Scar Revision
Whether caused by injury,
surger or burns, scars can be disfiguring. Scars stand out
against the rest of the skin because scar tissue is made of
collagen cells rather than ordinary skin cells. There are
several methods used to reduce the prominence of scars and
improve the skins texture and flexibility: Steroid injections
or applications, topical silicone applications, dermabrasion ,
vascular laser and laser skin resurfacing, tissue expansion,
Z-plasty and skin grafts are all methods used to revise scars.
On rare occasions even radiation may be used for a few days
to reduce the appearance of scarring. |
