• Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

The simplest, least invasive and least expensive form of treatment, IUI involves placing the father’s sperm into the mother’s uterus during her ovulation. A semen sample is processed in the lab to separate good quality sperm from the seminal fluid, maximizing the number of sperm cells that are placed in the uterus and therefore the chances of conception.

• Gamete Intrafallopian Transfer (GIFT)

In the GIFT procedure, eggs are removed from the woman's ovaries and placed in one of the fallopian tubes, along with the husband’s sperm. This highly successful technique allows fertilization to take place inside the woman's body.

• In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

With IVF, fertilization of the female egg by the male sperm occurs outside the woman’s body. IVF is a breakthrough treatment in cases where other methods have failed to result in a pregnancy. The technique involves hormonally controlling the process of ovulation, removing eggs from the woman's ovaries and letting sperm fertilize them in a fluid medium. The fertilized egg is then transferred to the woman’s uterus to establish a successful pregnancy.

• Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)

ICSI is an in vitro fertilization procedure in which a single sperm is injected directly into an egg using micromanipulation, and is generally indicated where there is an extremely low sperm count or poor sperm movement.

When to see a Doctor ?

A couple married for more than 1 year and regularly trying to have a baby, but unsuccessful should see the Fertility Center. When visiting the doctor, the following three major causes will be checked.

• No ovulation.
• Blocked Fallopian tube or a fascia membrane is found in the pelvic region.
• Poor Sperm quality.
